XTemplate works quite happily on PHP5, however it does not make specific use of any PHP5 features. A PHP5 specific version making use of some of the newer object-oriented features of PHP5 will be developed subject to demand and assistance. This is currently in 'back-burner' mode but as PHP5 becomes more available (and all our coding is moving that way), then it is likely to take account of the PHP5 benefits.
Update: All current and future versions of XTemplate are geared for PHP 5, we're also maintaining a PHP 4 branch for now where feasible.
